Dr. Ching-Yi Lin is the recipient of both the 2018 Potter College of Arts & Letters Teaching Award and the 2018 University Teaching Award.

American Sonatas for Violin and Piano
"By bridging the language barrier through music, WKU violin students and student volunteers from the WKU Pre-College Strings Program will be able to quickly find common ground from which to begin understanding and communicating with students from other countries." -Dr. Ching-Yi Lin
Recipient of FUSE Grant 2016
Drs. Ching-Yi Lin and Zachary Lopes released their new CD entitled American Sonatas for Violin and Piano: Bolcom, Corigliano, Ives. It includes Charles Ives’ Sonata No. 2, William Bolcom’s Sonata No. 2, and John Corigliano’s Sonata.
Recipient of KY ASTA Award
Dr. Ching-Yi Lin and Anna Darling (WKU Violin Performance Major) are the recipients of WKU's Faculty–Undergraduate Student Engagement (FUSE) Grant. In 2017, Dr. Lin supervised Anna on her trip to teach violin to children in Africa through the Daraja Music Initiative Program. The trip was fully funded by this grant.
Daraja Music Initiative (DMI)
Ching-Yi Lin was awarded Outstanding Educator of the Year 2017 by the Kentucky America String Teachers Association.
Notes: Newsletter Spring 2014 to Spring 2016
Teaching the violin to children in Africa: DMI is a non-profit organization that provides grade-school students in Tanzania. In 2016, Lin initiated a beginner violin class in the Majengo Primary School. Click on READ MORE to watch a WBKO program about this project from A View from the Hill.

Violin Fest 2015
Student Group Awarded Most Improved Student Chapter of the year

Violin Fest is geared towards bringing orchestra and private studio teachers, high school students, and college students to the WKU campus. Our guest faculty for Violin Fest 2015 was Mauricio Fuks, Professor of Music at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Ching-Yi Lin Entrepreneur of the Month
Alyna Bloecher, Dr. Lin's masters in pedagogy student from WKU, received the John D. Minton Award from WKU. This award recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of one graduate student throughout the university.
Ching-Yi Lin National Jefferson Award
Ching-Yi was named Indiana University's Entrepreneur of the month. This articles describes her career path beginning with her undergraduate studies and ending with her current work at the Western Kentucky University.
